It’s no secret that BC is filled with an abundance of beauty.
There’s Vancouver, Whistler, Tofino, and the list goes on.
But sometimes the lesser known areas scattered across the province are the ones most worth exploring.
The 175-hectare Minnekhada Regional Park is a hidden gem in Coquitlam.
It’s a sanctuary for those who want to retreat into the peaceful wilderness for a few hours.

The park has a number of quiet trails to hike and areas to explore.
There’s also a lot of wildlife lurking in the trees. You may even spot a black bear.
It is also home to the classic Minnekhada Lodge, which is a 1930s countryside estates featuring scenic views of the Pitt River.
The lodge was built as a hunting retreat for Lieutenant Governor Eric Hamber. Visitors are able to walk around the grounds and tour the lodge on select Sundays throughout the year.
Because of the park’s pristine beauty, it’s a popular spot for weddings and any other important life events.
There are three main trails throughout the area—Quarry Trail, Mid-Marsh Trail and Lodge/Fern Trails.
One of the more popular hikes is the High Knoll. The relatively easy 6.5 trail usually takes hikers about 2.5 hours to complete.
