Guide: Canada Day Celebrations Across Metro Vancouver By City

This Saturday, July 1st, Canadians across the country are celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.

Here in metro Vancouver, residents are getting ready to show the rest of the country how the west coast celebrates.

From Vancouver to the Fraser Valley, there is no shortage of celebrates taking place.

Abbotsford

Parade & Celebration

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Parade on South Fraser Way; festival & fireworks at Exhibition Park
What to expect: Enjoy live entertainment, a food truck festival, community displays, hayrides & mini golf, and dog zone. Castle Fun Park is offering $1.50 mini golf from 10:00 a.m. to midnight.

Castle Fun Park

Time: 10:00 a.m. – midnight
Location: Castle Fun Park (36165 N Parallel Road)
What to expect: Castle Fun Park is celebrating Canada Day with $1.50 mini golf from 10:00 a..m to midnight.

Burnaby

Canada Day Concert At Swangard Stadium

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Swangard Stadium (3883 Imperial Street)
What to expect: Enjoy a free concert and fireworks display as Burnaby celebrates Canada’s 150th birthday.

Canada Day At Edmonds Plaza And Park

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Edmonds Community Centre (7433 Edmonds Street)
What to expect: Take in free family activities, face painting, music, arts and crafts, the ever popular bingo, cake, and amazing multi-cultural entertainment.

Canada Day At Burnaby Village Museum

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Burnaby Village Museum (6501 Deer Lake Avenue)
What to expect: Take part in multi-cultural family entertainment, musicians, displays, activities, demonstrations, a parade, and, of course, cupcakes.

Coquitlam

Canada Day At Town Centre Park

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Location: Town Centre Park (1299 Pinetree Way)
What to expect: This free family friendly day will have live music and entertainment, food, beverages, family activities and fireworks to end off the day.

Port Coquitlam

Canada Day At Lions Park

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Location: Lions Park (2300 Lions Way)
What to expect: The annual Lions pancake breakfast is once again being hosted and a free fishing derby for kids under 10 is also being held.

Delta

Time: 5:30 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.
Location: Chalmers Park (11315 75 Avenue)
What to expect: An afternoon of children’s activities, BBQ & food vendors, live music, fireworks and an official ceremony celebrate Canada 150. People are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets

Time: 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Kirkland House in Ladner (4140 Arthur Drive)
What to expect: You can expect to see live music, children’s rides and games, family picnic, and a performance by the Delta Police Pipe Band.

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Diefenbaker Park (6579 1 Avenue)
What to expect: Get the family together for hot dogs and drinks, birthday cake, live entertainment, face painting, and official ceremony and cake cutting at 1:00 p.m.

Langley

Langley Canada Day JRBQ

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Willoughby Community Park
What to expect: Enjoy a wide variety of activities, community vendors, live entertainment on two stages, food trucks, and a BBQ to benefit Basics for Babies.

Canada Day in Fort Langley

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location: Langley Centennial Museum
What to expect: Activities such as crafts, face painting, and old-fashioned games will all bring the entire community out.

New Westminster

New Westminster Canada Day 2017

Time: 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Location: Queen’s Park Bandshell
What to expect: Planned activities include arts and heritage workshops, community groups presentations and diverse performances that celebrate the story of Canada. Not to mention, a fireworks display will cap off the day later at 10:00 p.m. on the Downtown Waterfront.

Port Moody

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Location: Rocky Point Park
What to expect: Enjoy a full day at the beautiful Rocky Point Park. Activities, and entertainment by Canadian Rock legend Trooper highlight the day. Fireworks will cap it all off in the evening.

Richmond

Richmond Canada Day 2017

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Location: Steveston Village
What to expect: To begin the day, the Steveston Salmon Festival Parade marches off at 10:00 a.m. sharp from Garry Point Park. It winds through the streets of Steveston past the Community Centre to Railway Avenue. Throughout Steveston Village, visitors will see an assortment of performances on six stages.

What to expect: Taking place on the beautiful shores of Steveston, the event will grill over 1,200 pounds of wild salmon filets over open fire pits. To locals, the event is known as the “salmon bake”.

Surrey

Surrey Canada Day 2017

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Location: Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre (17728 64 Avenue)
What to expect: An entire lineup of music performances and activities are in store for one of metro Vancouver’s largest Canada Day celebrations

Vancouver

Canada Place

Canada Place is doing things a little differently this year. They are having not one, but two days of festivities to celebrate Canada Day. Saturday will feature a Canadian citizenship ceremony, and fireworks. Sunday will see a pancake breakfast and the annual Canada Day parade.

Canada Day At Granville Island

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Granville Island
What to expect: Granville Island goes all out to present a day full of great entertainment, a parade, music, spectacle, food, fun activities, street entertainment, and more.

Canada Day Cookout

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Olympic Village (215 West 1st Avenue)
What to expect: Take in music by Camaro ’67, Leisure Club, Gang Signs, Supermoon, Jessicka, and Jody Glenham and the Dreamers while enjoying delicious BBQ food. Tickets range from $10 – $59.

North Vancouver

North Vancouver Canada Day 2017

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Waterfront Park (200 Esplanade Way)
What to expect: This free event features live performers, crafts, food trucks, as well as games and activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Canada Day At Grouse Mountain

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Grouse Mountain (6400 Nancy Greene Way)
What to expect: Grouse Mountain is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the “largest human maple leaf” in the world. In addition, a variety of activities, entertainment, and food are also all in the schedule.

Whistler

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Whistler Village
What to expect: From a pancake breakfast to the Canada Day parade, Whistler is showcasing Canadian pride in a variety of ways.
