Good news foodies! 11 food carts will roll out in Vancouver parks and beaches this summer and offer both locals and tourists a new menu to enjoy while soaking in the sun and stunning local scenery.
The Vancouver Park Board has granted permits to 11 vendors in 15 sites—the highest number of participants to date. Food carts began operating in three park sites in Vancouver two years ago as part of a pilot. All vendors are expected to be up and running by mid-June.
BerryMobile will be operating three fresh fruit stands adjacent to concessions at Second Beach, Lumberman’s Arch and Spanish Banks. The stands will be set up like roadside markets with ready-to-eat fruit in baskets. By Canada Day, BerryMobile expects to be selling the newly named Squamish raspberry—a large, firm, flavourful and bright red fruit that was bred in British Columbia.
Back by popular demand is Vancouver Beach Nuts, which will be selling fresh coconuts from a Tiki bar at Kitsilano Beach and, new this year, at English Bay. Jim’s Ice Cream will be selling novelty ice cream at Vanier Park and Japadog, a popular chain of street food stands and restaurants, will be operating beside the Information Booth in Stanley Park.

The plan, which highlights priority areas and actions to increase local food assets in Vancouver parks and recreation facilities, was unveiled last summer.
